Scotland
We are currently working at having our first Scotland Patient Group in Edinburgh. Andrew Deans is taking the lead on this.
Irene Montgomery and Karen went to the Third World alpha-1 Congress in Rome in September 2007.
There are approx. 100 known Alpha 1 patients in Scotland. The main centre of knowledge and expertise for Alpha 1 in Scotland is at the research group headed by Prof. McNee at Edinburgh University. This group has carried out various Alpha 1 related research trials. The research coordinator is Andrew Deans at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
If you want to get in touch with a fellow Scottish Alpha 1 patient, contact Jim Livingston in Aberdeen - Andrew Deans will also be happy to help.
