International alpha-1 organisations
AATD is a relatively common genetic disorder that was identified in Sweden in 1962. It is known by some colloquially as the "Viking disease" as it appears to be prevalent in areas of northern Europe visited by Vikings.
Many countries have support groups. Here is a list of some of them.
