Grants

It is one of our aims to be able to help Alpha1 affected families in a practical way. At the present time, we are the only registered Charity specifically for A1AD sufferers and their families in the UK, and we do have a limited number of small grants available for those in need. We hope to be able to do even more in the coming years, as the Charity becomes established and our funds grow accordingly.

We hope that these grants will help to fund something which would otherwise be impossible, and in some way improve life for those Alpha1 sufferers and their families who are struggling financially.

There are many circumstances where a little extra funding could help, here are just a few of those we might consider:-

  • Help towards the cost of special equipment or services for the patient (please note, we do not make grants for equipment or services normally supplied by the NHS or Social Services).
  • Help with child care costs for parents of a sick Alpha child who need to make arrangements for other children, whilst they spend time at the hospital.
  • Help with travel expenses involved at such a time, or perhaps for visiting a post transplant patient who may be a long way from home.
  • Help for older children and teenagers in Alpha affected families. This could be money towards funding an expedition or school trip of some sort, or even just a family fun day out for those with a parent disabled by an A1AD illness.

Basically, we will consider applications for anything which will really help make a difference to the lives of affected Alphas and their families. If you have any enquiries about the grants or you would like to request an Application Form, please email:-
