Chichester Priory 10K Road Race 2008London Marathon 2008

Report from Alan and Dawn Heywood-Jones

Dawn and I travelled from Spain to support our daughter-in-law Tracy who took part in the London Marathon. She ran all the way in five hours four minutes - just outside her target - but even so very good for a first time runner. As you all know it was a very cold and wet day and I am looking for sponsorship for pushing Dawn's chariot for eight miles round the course.

Andrew kindly delivered 1000 Alpha-1 Awareness leaflets to our hotel. The bulk of these were distributed to the three charities who were using the same hotel as their reception centres (The Asthma Society, The British Lung Foundation and The Childrens Liver Disease Society - the CEO of which was most interested in our work). Some other leaflets went to the St John's Ambulance brigade who were providing First Aid along the route. Others we gave to people that we know who may be in a position to sponsor us in the future.

Tracy will be making a substantial donation to Alpha-1 Awareness mainly from donations collected here in Spain. This will happen when all the monies have been collected.
